PRACTICAL TRAINING IN COLLABORATIVE CENTERS
PURPOSE
The purpose of the practical training program is to show how the departments function and to give theoretical and practical knowledge about the decontamination and handling of medical devices by bringing together the members of national societies in a well established CSSD. The WFHSS – which dedicates itself to help that Medical devices are applied to the patients at the highest quality by means of instruments, departments, staff and managers at the highest quality – is confident of the importance and the usefulness of this program for improving decontamination activities all over the world.
PROGRAMME
Collaborative centres
National societies which dedicate their selves to improve sterilization activities in their countries and in the world, and want to be one of the hosts for the program shall apply to WFHSS by filling the nomination form and sending it to the WFHSS Secretary. National societies nominating a collaborative centre shall send a detailed report about the centre including education level of the responsible person, capacity of the department, machines, packaging methods, daily numbers of sets and operations, number of staff etc.
Joining the programme
Attendees should be a member of a national society which is also a full member of WFHSS. Members who want to attend a practical training programme shall apply to their national societies. Selection of the attendees shall be made by national societies. Applications to the WFHSS shall be done by national societies by sending the nomination form to the secretary of the WFHSS. Curriculum vitae of the nominee shall accompany the nomination form. After approval of the application by the Executive Committee of the WFHSS, and the agreement with one of the available collaborative centres, dates and centre for training course will be announced by the WFHSS.
Responsibilities of WFHSS
The responsibilities of WFHSS shall be to motivate the countries to join the programme and to bring together the societies who are able to be a host and those who want to send their members to another country. The programme shall be followed up by a coordinator of the WFHSS.
Length of the programme
Each programme shall last at least five whole working days.
WFHSS practical training grant
Every year a maximum of three attendees chosen by the Executive Committee of the WFHSS will receive practical training grant to cover accommodation and food (in total not more than 1000 Euro). Grant will be transferred to the attendee after the approval of costs by EC.
The WFHSS encourages its member associations, who are willing to take part in the program as collaborative centre, to support trainees. If a collaborative centre wishes to cover accommodation and etc. for a trainee it is appreciated by WFHSS.
Attendees without WFHSS grant
It is also possible to join a practical training course without WFHSS grant. In this case all of the expenses of the attendees including transportation, accommodation, food etc. has to be paid by himself/herself or his/her own society
RESULTS
The practical training course checklist has to be filled in and signed by the responsible person of the collaborative centre. The attendees have to write an official report to the secretary of the WFHSS within one month following the course to explain what they did, what they learnt and how they are going to use the knowledge they got. A copy of the signed checklist has to be sent together with the report.
The most important part of the program is spreading the knowledge of the attendees to as many as possible skilled persons of the respective country. This shall be done or managed by the hand of the respective national societies.
