CFSA 3rd Decontamination and Sterilisation Conference
The 3rd Decontamination and Sterilisation Conference will be held at Gallagher Conference Centre on the 8th & 9th of June 2016. It will once again be heavily subsidised with registration being +-R100 per delegate for the conference only.
This year the theme is “Its all about Quality”. Following last years successful Association of Peri operative Practitioner of South Africa (APPSA/SATS) conference, we will again be joining up with AAPSA for a session of 3 presentations on Team Building and Care and Maintenance of Scopes. Dr Alevizopoulous an expert on scopes will be talking about different standards and the dangers of not following standards.
Dr Sue Armstrong Senior Lecturer, Department of Nursing Education, Wits University will be our keynote speaker.
Susan Meredith, Chairperson of the Institute of Decontamination Science, UK, will give a presentation with some exciting news about future training in South Africa.
Jacquie Stewart from COHSASA will give us some insight into what happens when we are audited by COHSASA
Coralie van Heerden, from CSIR, will talk to us about training maintenance staff to deal with our theatres and CSSD.
Terry McAuley an expert in Decontamination will discuss, "Who takes the blame if things go wrong and we don’t maintain quality”. Terry will also present her Research Paper on Reprocessing of ‘single-use’ orthopaedic implants: A study on the effects of repeated reprocessing on single-use screws in screw caddies.
There will also be presentations on Klebsiella infection in theatre, CRICE training of sales staff, Loanset standards, Protein Testing, Science of Sterilisation, Managing the sterilisation process through tracking and much, much more.
