Any guidelines concerning the validation of sealing machine? There are tests like ink test to help daily validation. But any reference about them.

Hi Hoishan,

Hope you are well.

Pouch sealing machines need to be monitored for their performance on a regular basis. Of course, this would depend on the Standards that you wish to comply with.

One of these performance tests is the Ink test. It is mentioned in DIN EN ISO 11607-1 as well as ASTM F1929-12. Unfortunately, I do not possess a copy of the above standards and hence cannot tell you the actual Chapter or Section

In my country, we currently follow AS/NZS 4187:2014.

In Appendix A Guidance (Informative), there is a mention of this ink test.

Performance Qualification A7.4.1 mentions 5 acceptance criteria (Intact sealing, No channels, No punctures, No wrinkles etc).
These acceptance criteria should be checked using appropriate test system, Eg Dye penetration test.
