Hi to all, my question is what happens when a dirty cannulated instrument has been through the sterilisation process and when releasing the load an item shows cooked gross debri? Is the entire load considered contaminated?
Will have to go for rewashing/ reprocessing?

Thanks

Hi Aurora,
I believe the cannulated instrument is in a wrapped or container when sent for reprocessing…
The issue here is the decontamination process.
Only the affected tray that contained the dirty instrument that needed to be sent out for reprocessing again as it will be deemed as contaminated. The rest of the wrapped trays or items should be considered as sterile as long as no other dirty instruments in it.
You only failed the load if there is a discrepancies to the sterilisation process i.e. Steriliser issue.
I hope this will answer your question.

Hi Norlidah

Thanks for your reply, very much appreciated.

So, I guess the same procedure will t apply to a dirty ítems found in a Peel pack i.e cannulated fórceps or suctions?

Thanks to everyone.
