When using SMS, is it necessary to use any other wrapping? I am under the impression that the whole of a spunguard fabric is that it is multiple wraps in one go. One wrap is all that is needed?

It depends on what your wrapping ? Any set that can possibly compromise the wrapping” Put a hole in it ” may require additional protection .

Dear Jiild, from aspect of microbial barrier properties, a single SMS wrap still provides sterility assurance. However as mentioned by Tprocessor in case of heavy or puncture risk showing sets, double layer is always recommended practice. Also in some cases double wrap is used, while outer wrap is opened outside the operation room and inner wrap inside.
